I have always thought that making paintings and drawings was a way to ask questions about what was important to me about the world. The paintings and the drawings are my attempts at answers. The questions change over the years but if you are honest about the asking you find that after a while the questions are usually about a few recurring considerations. Though the answers I have found have gone from more conceptual to personal, more idea to emotion. So, now when I start a work, since time matters more for me at this stage of my life, I look for that place where idea and feeling come together with more urgency and, hopefully, a little more poignancy.
